Back to base to resume the fight.

Well, I'm back. Took off to the Gold Coast for a week with my fiancé, and tagged along with her Aunt, Uncle and younger cousins for the trip. T'was good, and going with others helped me to see the whole area again through the eyes of a child. And with my last trip that far north being over 15 years ago, boy has it changed a lot!!
Did all the usual suspects - the three "rides" parks (Seaworld, Dreamworld and WB Movie World), took a couple of bus tours further up and down the coast, and cruised around the city in a hire car. Good times, good times. And at least going up with others meant I didn't have to go on the thrill rides all by myself - there's always something a little strange and sad about doing that sort of thing (like going to the movies on a Thursday night and being in an almost-full cinema by yourself!!). Got 'em to be real li'l adrenaline junkies by the end - "Superman ride", "Tower of Terror", "The Claw", I feel the need... the need for G's!!
So now, unfortunately, I've gotta try and squeeze back into some sense of a "normal" routine once again. That's the part of holidays I dread - getting to the end of the time, finally working my way into "sleep-in" mode, and then having to go back to work and being woken by an alarm. The timing always sucks on that sort of thing...
What did work out well, though, was for the release schedule for this month. I'm back a couple of days and ODST's out (today!!), gotta head down to grab a copy of Dan Brown's latest release, and might even see if I can snag a copy of the new Professor Layton game for the DS as an early release before it's out this Thursday. Will (hopefully) be coming home tonight with my bag full and wallet significantly lighter than I started out with.
Another title I was hankering for - Bubble Bobble Neo - popped up on our Live Marketplace mid-holiday too. Have given the demo a quick shot already, but at the moment it's definitely been a case of seeing it through rose-coloured glasses. I dunno, there's just something I can't put my finger on that makes it seem... different... to what I was hoping for from a gaming classic. Maybe I need to wire up a standing arcade unit to play it on... hmm... Anyway, will have to give it a decent go - after all, I owe it to all the 20c coins I blew on the original arcade unit and NES hirings of it from the video store.
'Til next time...
