The new Xbox 360. Details and Design. [UPDATED]

At E3 this year Microsoft has said they had something big planned for us, and they weren't joking. Early this morning at the Microsoft Press Conference, they officially revealed the new Xbox 360 to the world. The new Xbox 360 has a new design, bigger HDD, built in WiFi and is Kinect ready. And all this for the same price as the current 120GB Elite console on sale today.
Although it has only just been officially announced, rumours have been circulating for quite a while. First we had pictures of what was said to be a new and slimmer version of the Xbox 360's motherboard. Then only days ago, an advertisement appeared on the official Italian Xbox.com website, showing the xbox had a 250GB HDD, built in WiFi and was in some way connected to Microsoft's motion camera, "kinect". Now it is official, and we get to look at what is to come in this new Xbox 360 design.
First the details:
Built in (removable) 250GB HDD
Built in WiFi 802.11N
Kinect Ready (meaning it has the power in it to run Kinect)
5 USB Ports (2 front, 3 back)
1 Ethernet port
1 HDMI port
1 AEX port (for Kinect probably)
1 TOSLink
plus the standard Video and Power ports
So sounds pretty good huh? Well i would first like to bring your attention to the removable HDD. Take a look first at this Gametrailers video, and go to about 1:10. Done that? Now look at the new HDD design, obviously that renders the current 360 HDD's useless doesn't it? OK maybe not such a big deal because we get a bigger HDD as standard, but it just seems like Microsoft could have let us use the old HDD's in some way on the new xbox's; whether that be opening the old HDD case to get at the 2.5" HDD or what ever.
Next is the fact it's Kinect ready. According the above Gametrailers video, that means that this new 360 can use Kinect without any additional power, whereas older 360's will need to use a power point to power Kinect with enough juice. A stupid move? A smart move? You decide. Looking at the above specs, we assume the new 360's will use the AEX port for Kinect, but older 360's will use a USB port plus the outside power.
So that's the details out of the way, now to take a close up look at the new design. These pictures are from Major Nelson's Blog.
The new Xbox 360 is said to be shipping to retailers today and will go on sale later this week for a price of US$299. While the current elite will get a price drop down to US$249, and the arcade down to a US$149 price point.
[UPDATE]
This new xbox 360 is reported to be hitting Australia on July 1st for a price of $449. Source: Kotaku
And the current Elites will be dropping to $349, not $399. Very nice

It looks good and all but the question needs to be begged, Why?
They shoulda just made this design for the next xbox..

Could have been allot worse. $449 is good imo compared to what it could have been

$449

This is MS remember, they don't do exact dollar to dollar conversions. It will probably be $499 AU lol

My opinion is the new xbox looks pretty good, i would buy one if i needed it. But like i said before, i don't need 250GB or WiFi and i probably wont be getting Kinect....so i'll probably give it a miss till it's super cheap.
thats what she said

Doesn't look to "slim", just looks thinner around the power button

Good enough reason as any to upgrade tho, still got the standard 60gb
